Recreated this beat-up cover, utilizing Illustrator. Image Trace was not used. I actually read this book, it was very interesting. We paid Russia seven million dollars for Alaska, something they were unable to retain since it was logistically so far away, and since they were at war with the British, who owned Canada at the time, the Russians found it more favorable to sell to the United States, who they were friendly with at the time instead of helplessly watching Britain take it from them. The same thing happened with France and the Louisiana Purchase, they were too far away and busy with wars and couldn't keep that land, either. There were actually senators who made what sounded like a really strong case against the purchase of Alaska, but they turned out to be most incorrect, as we all know. Without Alaska, the Cold War would have been much different as it placed us much closer to the Soviet Union than without it. Russia actually had colonies all the way down the coast into California! This stuff is great, you should read it!
